My name is Trooper and I have lived up to it. I am a young black Lab mix with floppy ears and long legs and big brown eyes that have seen some hard things without losing any of their softness. I am healing from some wounds right now, and the road has not been easy, but I want you to know that I have been gentle and sweet every single step of the way.

What I want more than anything is simple: to be near my person. I am a quiet companion, the kind of dog who settles in beside you and makes the whole room feel warmer just by being there. I do not need constant excitement. I need consistency, closeness, and the reassurance that I am safe and loved. That is all it takes to bring out the very best in me.

I have shown that I do wonderfully with other dogs, and I have that wonderful puppy energy that makes life with me a little more interesting and a lot more fun. The cat in my foster home is a source of great fascination for me, and I am not going to pretend I do not bark at her sometimes or try to get a good sniff in. We are not exactly bonded, but we coexist, and that is something.

On the potty training front I am doing really well and improving every day, with just a couple of slip-ups as I learn the routine. I am brave, I am gentle, and I have been waiting for someone to show me what a forever home feels like. I think it is going to feel an awful lot like everything I have been holding out for.
