Hi there, I'm Susan!

I'm a sweet, gentle girl who believes the best things in life are simple: a cozy couch, a good belly rub, and spending time with my favorite person. I'm more of a lounge-around kind of girl, and I'm perfectly happy just laying around you while you go about your day. Quality time is my love language!

I'm a little shy when meeting new people, but give me a few minutes to warm up, and you'll start to see my sweet side. I can feel overwhelmed when meeting lots of new people at once, so I'd do best with a family willing to let me settle in at my own pace. Once I know you're my person, I'll be happy just having you nearby and enjoying some gentle affection.

I'm good with cats and relaxed when meeting other dogs. I've also been around livestock and poultry, and I may do well with kids, although I haven't been fully tested with them. I'm a pretty quiet girl overall, but I might occasionally have a little something to say at night. I already know some basic commands, walk nicely on a leash, and do well in my crate. I'll still need some help mastering potty training, but with patience and consistency, I can get there!

I'm not a girl who needs endless adventures or a huge backyard. A nice walk, a comfy place to rest, and someone to share the couch with would make me very happy. I'm also a bit particular about my meals, so I'll need a family willing to help me find foods I enjoy.

My favorite time of day is when my person comes to spend time with me. I don't need constant attention, just the comfort of knowing you're there.

If you're looking for a gentle, low-key companion who will happily keep you company through life's quiet moments, I might be your girl.

Susan is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30 - 11:30am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
