Meet Pastrami!
24 Weeks Old | Beagle Puppy | Neutered | 10.6 lbs
Say hello to Pastrami, a sweet young pup with a big future ahead of him! At just 24 weeks old, Pastrami deserves a chance to leave his difficult start behind and discover what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.
Pastrami's story began in heartbreaking circumstances. He was abandoned in a shed alongside many other dogs, including another pup named Salami, when the humans left the property. With temperatures soaring, the conditions became deadly, and sadly, some of the dogs did not survive the extreme heat. Pastrami was one of the lucky ones who made it through.
Pastrami and Salami may be siblings, but we can't say for certain. What we do know is that Pastrami is ready for a much brighter chapter!
A little about Pastrami
We suspect Pastrami is a full Beagle, which means his future family can look forward to all the curiosity, enthusiasm, and nose-to-the-ground adventures that make Beagles so special. And, of course, that famous Beagle love of food!
- Age: 24 weeks

His personality and ideal home
Pastrami likes both people and other dogs! He's still a puppy, so he's learning about the world and will need a family ready to guide him with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
- Other dogs: Pastrami enjoys canine company. We especially prefer a home with a confident, friendly resident dog who can help him burn off puppy energy and learn good dog manners.
- Cats: His compatibility with cats is unknown. Since he's still young, he may learn to live happily with a cat who is comfortable around puppy energy, provided introductions are gradual and carefully supervised.
- Kids: We recommend a home with children over age 6. Like many puppies, Pastrami has sharp puppy teeth, and his Beagle enthusiasm for food means he may not always notice whose fingers are near the treat! Older children who understand puppy boundaries will be a better match.
- Yard: We prefer a forever home with a securely fenced yard where Pastrami can play, explore, and enjoy age-appropriate exercise.
- Family lifestyle: A home where someone is around more often than not would be ideal. Puppies need companionship, supervision, consistency, and plenty of opportunities to learn.
A confident resident dog can be a wonderful playmate and role model, helping Pastrami navigate life as he grows. A fenced yard and an engaged human will also help this energetic little Beagle get the exercise, enrichment, and attention he needs.
As a Beagle, Pastrami may follow his nose wherever it leads, so secure fencing, supervised outdoor time, and keeping tempting snacks out of reach will be important!

Please note: Our rescue is foster-based and cannot hold dogs for future adoption due to travel, home renovations, or schedule changes. Adopters must be prepared to welcome their new companion within a reasonable timeframe.
We do our best to ensure every dog is as healthy and prepared as possible, but we ask adopters to understand that rescue dogs may need time to decompress and adjust. They are not perfect they are simply in need of patience, understanding, and a second chance.
