Red is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

Given the conditions Red originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Red has completed his Heartworm treatment.

It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.*
