Strawberry - Basset Hound and Bloodhound Dog for Adoption in Woolwich, Maine

Oh Strawberry

When we saw our rescue partner, Wendy, post Strawberry's video we knew we had to get her out of the shelter and into a loving home. You can see from her video how sweet she is! She's the total package for a shelter pup: she knows how to walk on leash, she waits to potty outside at the shelter which indicates that she's potty trained, she's good with other dogs, and she loves people. She's also pretty chill!

Strawberry is estimated to be about two years old and a Bassett/Bloodhound mix. She's a 45 pound low rider who deserves a loving home. She'll give you so much love and joy! Please share Strawberry with anyone you know who is looking for a dog that deserves the best! Strawberry is currently in AL but we hope to bring her to Maine in early November.

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.

The bloodhound is a large scent hound known for its exceptional tracking abilities. With a distinctive wrinkled face and droopy ears, these dogs have a keen sense of smell, second only to the beagle. Bloodhounds are gentle, affectionate, and good with children, making them excellent family pets. Their determination and relentless tracking skills have made them invaluable in search and rescue missions. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are essential to keep these intelligent dogs happy and healthy.
