Jerry’s Story

Jerry’s story started in a heartbreaking way. Jerry and his brother Ben were only about four weeks old when they were abandoned inside a trailer after their family moved out, taking their mom and another sibling with them, but leaving these two helpless puppies behind. Thankfully, the landlord checked the property the next day, found them, and reached out to our rescue for help. We didn’t hesitate—we jumped right in!

Today, both Jerry and Ben are in a loving foster home (in North-east Houston) and are happy and healthy. They are being socialized with other dogs, cats and children and are thriving! Both of these boys are doing well with their potty training and kennel training. Now - they are ready to find their forever families!

A Little About His Breed Mix:

The DNA results showed that the brothers are approximately 25% Miniature American Shepherd and 25% Chihuahua, with the remaining percentage made up of several other breeds.

This combination can make for a fun, intelligent, energetic little dog! Miniature American Shepherds are known for being smart, active, and eager to engage with their people, while Chihuahuas are typically alert, loyal, and full of personality. Jerry will thrive with an active family who will engage with regular play, exercise, attention, and continued training.

It is important to understand that Jerry’s energy level is not simply puppy energy that he will outgrow. These breeds can remain active and energetic throughout their lives. Jerry will need a home that is prepared to stay active with him as he grows. He may be small, but he is definitely not short on personality or energy!

Jerry would be a great fit for a family with animal-savvy children or other friendly pets, especially since he has already been enjoying life around kids, dogs, and cats in his foster home.

Neuter Reimbursement - Because Jerry is still a puppy and too young to be altered, his adoption includes a $100 reimbursement toward his neuter once he is old enough and the procedure has been completed. Proof of payment in the form of a veterinarian’s receipt must be provided to receive the reimbursement.
