Walter Skinner - Australian Shepherd and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Durham, North Carolina

Meet Walter (Skinner) a charming, energetic 10-week-old shepherd mix who LOVES to play, follow you around, snuggle when he's tired, and tug on ropes as well as heartstrings! He and his brother Fox came in as strays, but have settled in nicely to foster home life.

A quick learner and very food motivated, Walter is learning sit and uses his trick to sit right in front of the door the food comes from! He is still learning that food isn't scarce and would do best with a slow feeder and eating separately from other dogs. He's done well with crate training, sleeps through the night, and settles quickly if he's tired - unless it's meal time, then he will let you know! He's currently working on potty training and typical puppy mouthiness, but is easily redirected to a toy if what he's chomping on happens to be a finger instead.

Walter loves tug, fetch, squeakers, chase - pretty much any toy interaction makes him happy if you're involved. Although we do not know his exact breed mix, we assume there are some working breeds in there. So he will thrive with a patient family who can keep him mentally stimulated, learning tricks, and willing to play and love on him.

Walter loves meeting and playing with other dogs too, although humans are his preference (better toy-throwing and tummy-scratching). And once he's tuckered out, he loves nothing more than to cuddle on your lap and fall asleep next to you on the couch.
