Meet River!

This BEAUTIFUL three-year-old Australian Shepherd came to us from a rescue partner after being found chasing cars in Kentucky. We don’t know much about River’s backstory, but we know he’s ready for his new beginning!

River is a lovely dog. He happily greets everyone he meets with Aussie-wiggles, and just melts into your lap once you start petting him.

True to his breed, River is smart and energetic, and as an Australian Shepherd, he will need more than just a cozy couch to call home. He’s looking for an active family who can provide plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and enrichment to help him thrive. Someone who understands the needs of his breed and is ready to keep his mind and body busy would be the perfect match!

Adoption through STAF includes full vetting of the dogs, including a spay/neuter at 6 months (female)/9month (male) maximum.

We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
We do request vet and personal references.
We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter
