Keanu - Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler Dog for Adoption in Austin, Texas

We rescued sweet Keanu from a shelter we recently started helping when their new animal control officer reached out to us. Until now, they euthanized every dog that wasn’t reclaimed. We met the dogs that were in danger, and we couldn’t leave Keanu behind. We were able to find a foster to prevent him from being euthanized, and he has shown us that he is a great dog who just needed a chance to be loved. We know he will make his new family very happy.

Keanu is a very sweet and gentle boy. He has done great children as young as 8. He likes to go for walks and gets along with every dog he meets. He is house trained and crate trained. He is also cat friendly and has lived with indoor cats. Keanu loves to play fetch, and he already knows how to sit on command.

Keanu is 2 and 1/2 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He is an Australian Cattle Dog mix. He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. He is also microchipped, heartworm negative and is current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Keanu can arrive in Waterford, Connecticut on 11/7. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the application found here: https://throwadogabone.org/adopt.

The Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Blue Heeler, is a hardworking and intelligent breed originally developed in Australia for herding cattle. Renowned for their endurance and agility, these medium sized dogs have a striking blue or red speckled coat and alert, curious expression. With a strong herding instinct and boundless energy, they require mental stimulation and physical activity to thrive. Blue Heelers are loyal, protective, and make excellent companions for active individuals or families willing to provide the engagement and exercise they need.
