Meet Banjo - a 2-year-old, Blue Heeler mix, who weighs 55 pounds (as of 10/7/26). This guy's ears are larger than life and believe it or not - he has an even bigger heart!

Banjo is a lovable guy from Mississippi who was adopted locally, but his family can no longer take care of him since they do not have space for him to run. He'll always miss and love them, but is also looking forward to his new forever home! Bonus points if you have a large yard and treats!

He's lived in a foster home with other pups and has done great with them (although he does enjoy dining solo and likes his privacy while he eats - can't blame the guy!). Banjo treats everyone he meets with friendliness and charm. We're not sure if he's met children but he hopes to "wow" them too!

He lived outside most of the time with his owner but would be inside at night. He's housebroken, crate trained, walks well on his leash and rides in a car so you know what that means... road trip!

Also, given his breed, Banjo does have a prey drive and should be in a cat free home (and chicken-free too or else they'll have to cross the road!) Banjo's ideal home is one where he can run around to his heart's content and sing folk songs to anyone who'll listen.

We know the perfect family is out there waiting for this guy and he can't wait to meet you!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Banjo, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
