Meet Shaggy, aka Shagalicious!

Shaggy is a beautiful 44-pound girl believed to be an Aussiedoodle mix, and she is proof of what a little patience, care, and love can do.

Shaggy came into rescue after we believe she was dumped in an area of St. Louis where dogs are unfortunately often abandoned. She arrived severely matted and needed to be completely shaved down. Despite such a rough start, she has taken everything in stride and is blossoming into the happy, playful dog she was meant to be.

Initially, Shaggy was a little shy and quickly attached herself to the person she trusted. Once she realized she was safe, however, her personality began to shine. Today, she is playful, affectionate, and comfortable meeting new people. She does wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children, making her an incredibly easy girl to welcome into a family.

Shaggy is potty trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She is also wonderfully quiet and rarely barks or makes much noise. She is very food motivated and will happily run into her crate when she knows dinner is coming! She arrived needing to gain some weight, and at 44 pounds, she's getting close to her ideal weight of approximately 45–46 pounds.

There is something especially rewarding about watching Shaggy transform—from a timid, painfully matted dog who needed a fresh start into a confident, playful girl who is discovering how good life can be. She doesn't need a complicated life; she simply needs a family who will continue to give her the love, stability, and care she deserves.

Shaggy is ready for the next chapter of her story—and we have a feeling her forever family is going to think she's pretty Shagalicious.

Her adoption fee is tax-deductible and helps Once Upon A Prayer Pet Rescue continue providing food, veterinary care, vaccines, spay/neuter, microchipping, and other necessary medical care for dogs in need.

Shaggy will go home with the care and supplies provided through our standard adoption process, including her collar and leash, two food bowls, food, a toy, bed and all medical records, and microchip information.
