Meet Pandora (a.k.a. "Pan")
Every once in a while, a dog comes along that completely breaks the rescue rulebook.
Pandora is one of those dogs.
In fact, she's created quite the debate among the great philosophers of Dog Rescue Land. The question? Is Pandora a low-energy couch potato or a playful social butterfly?
When Pan first arrived in foster care, the answer seemed obvious. She was a gentle old soul who loved the safety of her crate. Her foster parents could open the crate door, walk away to do a chore, and come back to find her still happily lounging inside. Outside trips occurred on a snails pace, as she was perfectly content returning to her cozy sanctuary.
But there was one thing she loved even more than her crate: people. Get her out for some couch time, a car ride, or a cuddle session, and Pandora transformed into a world-class hugger. The kind of dog who leans in close and makes you feel like you've known each other forever.
Then something unexpected happened. Her foster parents moved her crate into the main living area and introduced her the others, including Pippa-the resident little-sister type who specializes in lovingly getting on everyone's nerves. And just like that... Pandora started playing. Suddenly, the "low-energy" label didn't fit anymore, and the philosophers were flummoxed.
Today, Pan still loves her naps, her crate, and her legendary cuddle sessions. She hits the coach with her foster parents with zero hesitation. But she also enjoys romping around with the other dogs in her foster home and joining in on the fun. It turns out she wasn't low-energy at all-she was simply waiting until she felt safe enough to let her personality shine.
Pandora is now the kind of dog people hope to find. She's beautiful, affectionate, crate-trained, enjoys her meals and treats, gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in her foster home, and gives hugs that should probably be patented. Does she occasionally have a potty accident? Sure. But perfection is overrated.
If there's one thing the philosophers of Dog Rescue Land can finally agree on, it's this: Pandora is an absolute catch, and whichever lucky family brings her home is going to wonder how they ever lived without her.
