**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**
***Spike MUST have a cat friend or two to play with him in his new home. His brother Sammy would be a great pairing.
Welcome Spike...thoughtful, curious, playful, and observant!
Spike is a beautiful blue/grey kitten with a ringed tail who balances perfectly between cautious and curious. He’s a thinker — if something in your routine or his environment changes, it makes him rethink if he can fully trust what’s coming next. He’s so close to giving that trust though! One pet on his head or a stroke down his back and his purr motor is instantly on; though he still maintains the right to leave, even if it’s just outside of your reach. He will happily rest his head or sit right in your lap, but he is not yet comfortable with being picked up and held... it’s just a matter of time, he’s so close!
Because his mom was so protective, Spike is much more confident once you're down on his level and when hand movements have a purpose, like bringing him a toy or a treat. Now that mom is not around to hold him back, Spike is moving forward and jostling for his place when humans offer good things!
Don’t let his thoughtful nature fool you — when the toys come out, game’s on! Spike throws himself into playtime, whether he’s zooming up the cat tower or wrestling with his brothers, his focus is intense. He is also highly motivated by lickable treats, lining up impatiently with his siblings and hilariously trying to intercept your hand to get his turn faster.
Spike can often be found cuddled up with his brother Sammy. Spike’s not quite as bold as his brother Smokey, but Spike’s gentle, quiet nature is exactly what’s needed to encourage Sammy to be braver every day.
Looking for a motor that drives endless entertainment and warms your heart? Spike is your boy!
Would you like to make Spike, and maybe Sammy too, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.
Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.
Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
