Barley (FIV positive) - Tabby and Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Vaughan, Ontario

***Barley was found in a junk yard with a serious leg injury. Who knows what this sweet cat had gone through before he was rescued. He recovered well in a foster home with other cats, and got along quite nicely. He will do fine as a solo kitty or in a home with other mature, docile cats.

Meet Barley!

Barley is a handsome orange tabby with a heart as warm as his golden coat. This gentle, affectionate boy has been through more than any cat should, but despite it all, he has never stopped trusting people.

Barley was once someone's pet, but after he 'escaped', he spent an unknown amount of time surviving outdoors. He had never been neutered or received veterinary care, and by the time he was found again, he was injured, struggling, and in obvious pain. Although his rescuer tried to help, Barley needed urgent medical attention that couldn't be provided at home. Thankfully, he was surrendered so he could finally receive the care he deserved.

Today, Barley is fully healed. He has a slight limp from his old leg injury, but it doesn't slow him down or take away from his loving spirit. He is happiest when he's close to his people, soaking up pets, giving head bumps, and enjoying every bit of affection he can get. Barley is the kind of companion who simply wants to love and be loved.

Barley is also FIV-positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Cats with FIV can live long, happy, healthy lives with routine veterinary care and a loving indoor home. Since FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, Barley can live safely with other friendly, non-aggressive cats or be perfectly content as the only pet in the household.

Barley would do well in a home where he can be part of the family. Whether he is your one and only or joins a calm feline companion, he will reward you with endless affection and loyal companionship. After everything he's overcome, Barley is ready to leave his difficult past behind and begin the next chapter of his life — with a forever family who will cherish him for the wonderful cat he is.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
