Meet Buster — formerly known as “Scaredy Cat.”
When I first met Buster, he earned the nickname “Scaredy Cat” for a pretty funny reason. He would happily let me get close to him, but if I got just a little too close, he'd suddenly decide another food plate was calling his name.
Eventually, he discovered that getting pets and scratches from his people was pretty great. At first, he had to make sure I wasn't going to surprise him. Now he knowingly lets me pet him, and he'll purr, drool, and soak up the attention.
He's still got a little bit of Scaredy Cat in him, though. He'll happily enjoy your affection one second, suddenly take off like he's been shot out of a cannon, and then come right back looking for more.
And Buster doesn't exactly walk up to you when he wants attention. He comes charging in like a bowling ball. He's a big, handsome, goofy and affectionate boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart.
He's also wonderful with other cats and loves spending time with his fellow colony cats.
Scaredy Cat may have been his old name, but Buster is who he is now.
