Meet Mayer — A Sweet Boy Waiting for Someone to Choose Him

Mayer is a handsome black-and-white boy, approximately 4–5 years old, with a gentle heart and a story that no cat should have to tell.

Mayer was abandoned on the Kitty Trail in Piqua, Ohio — seven miles of winding bike trails through the woods that have sadly become a place of refuge for cats who were left behind to survive on their own.

Twice every day, dedicated volunteers travel the trail to care for Mayer and his feline friends. They bring food, make sure the cats receive the vetting they need, and give them something they crave just as much as a full belly — love and human companionship.

And Mayer absolutely soaks it up.

For those little pockets of time each day, he gets to know what it feels like to have someone there for him. He gets pets, attention and reassurance. But eventually, the volunteers have to leave...and Mayer is left behind again with his feline buddies, waiting for the next visit.

We don’t want the woods to be Mayer’s forever home.

At 4–5 years old, Mayer has so much life and love ahead of him. He deserves to trade the dirt and leaves for a soft blanket, the uncertainty of outdoor life for the safety of a home, and those twice-a-day visits for a person who is his every single day.

Mayer needs what we call a heart of rescue. Someone who can look at this sweet boy and see more than a cat living along a trail. Someone who sees a life worth changing.
