Calypso is a fuzzy little ball of cuteness. He adores back scratches, belly rubs, and cuddles. He is also content to cozy up in a cat bed when his siblings hog his humans' laps. He loves to play with his siblings, chase wand toys, and climb up and down his cat tree.
Calypso is one of a litter of five incredibly special kittens who fought for several weeks to beat a nasty bout of feline coronavirus. They have all been doing very well since their last treatment ended, after a mild relapse.
Since the bean kittens were sick, they could not be integrated into the household, where we had a bottle feeder who would have been vulnerable to the virus. So, Calypso and his siblings may need a bit of time to adjust to a new, larger space. However, since they are also incredibly resilient and were handled regularly since birth, they are expected to adjust very well once they get used to their new home and people.
Calypso isn't an overly shy cat, so he should adapt quickly once he gets used to his new home and people. He has not been around young children or dogs so we don't know how he would react to them, but homes with calm, gentle, older children or dogs may be okay.
Calypso will need to have a cat buddy close in age. Since some cats exposed to coronavirus may occasionally shed the virus, adopting him with one or more of his siblings may feel like a safer option. If you already have a cat, it may help to know that this virus is extremely common - most cats in multi-cat homes encounter it at some point - and for the vast majority, it causes only mild, temporary symptoms. However, very young kittens and cats with weak immune systems can experience stronger symptoms, and in rare situations the virus can change into FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Although FIP is serious, there are treatments available, now, and most cats respond well with proper care.
Calypso is a sweet, funny little kitten who always makes us smile. He is affectionate and lots to be patted - he even likes belly runs. He has his own charming way of doing things - whether it's playing with the wand end of a wand toy or monitoring his siblings' manners in the litter box, ready to cover things up if they're not quick enough. He also responds well to encouragement when his siblings are hogging wand toys or balls, being more assertive when he hears his humans encouraging him by name.
Calypso is also a well-rounded kitten - he loves cuddles with his people and is also content chilling on his own; he is playful and energetic, but also has a calm, content energy after a good play. His is smart and curious and loves to explore new toys, boxes, and homemade tunnels. He is such a joy to be around, and he will bring so much love and joy to his new family.
Like all ACR cats, Calypso is up-to-date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas and parasites.
