Some kittens burst into a room demanding attention. Hyacinth and Gardenia are...not those kittens.

These two black-and-white girls prefer to watch the world from a safe distance, quietly taking everything in before deciding whether it's worth investigating. They're shy. Very shy. New people earn cautious stares, flattened ears, and the occasional dramatic hiss that says, "Please respect my personal space." The good news? That's usually where the drama ends. They don't lash out. They don't chase or swat. They simply ask for distance while they try to figure you out.

The way to these girls' hearts? Time. Patience. A healthy supply of tasty treats doesn't hurt either.

Hyacinth and Gardenia likely missed out on important early socialization, so they're still learning that people can be safe-and maybe even enjoyable. Right now, they're not looking for a lap to curl up in. They're looking for someone willing to meet them exactly where they are, celebrate the tiniest victories, and let trust grow at its own pace.

Will they ever become cuddly companions? We honestly don't know. They may one day surprise you with head bumps and purrs, or they may simply become quiet housemates who enjoy your company from across the room. Cats write their own stories, and these two are just getting started.
