Meet Firecracker!
Firecracker is one of those kittens who believes life is simply better with friends.
He's friendly, happy, playful, and incredibly social—and while he loves his people, this boy especially loves having other animals in his life. He does great with other cats, loves kids, and has a serious soft spot for dogs. In fact, he absolutely adores his foster family's dog.
But as much as Firecracker enjoys his canine buddies, we've learned that he really needs another cat in his forever home. A friendly feline companion is a must for this social little guy—someone to wrestle with, chase, play with, and curl up beside when the fun is over.
Dogs are a very welcome bonus, but a kitty friend is a requirement.
Firecracker is part of our American litter, whose story began in a garage in Macon, Mississippi. He and his crew—Independence, Freedom, Stars, Stripes, Pop, and Sparkler—were found as tiny neonatal kittens who needed round-the-clock care. Thanks to dedicated fosters, those fragile babies grew into happy, healthy kittens.
But Firecracker's journey took a little detour.
He was born with pectus excavatum, a condition in which the chest wall develops abnormally, and needed surgery to correct it. While the rest of his crew moved ahead, Firecracker had to stay down south a little longer to have his surgery and recover.
And recover he did.
Firecracker is now fully recovered and ready to make up for lost time. And after everything he's been through, has he become cautious or reserved?
Not even a little bit.
He's still the same joyful, social little guy who loves people, loves other cats, thinks dogs are fantastic, and is always ready for the next round of play.
Firecracker may have had to wait a little longer than the others for his turn.
But now he's healthy, he's ready—and all he needs is a family and a kitty best friend to start his grand finale.
Everybody loves kittens, and it's easy to see why! Kittens four months old or younger are only adopted out in pairs or to homes that already have a friendly, playful resident cat. Young kittens simply do not thrive in isolation, and we do not make exceptions. If you're looking for a single cat, please look to our older kittens, teens, or adults. They're wonderful companions and fully ready to be your one-and-only.
All of the Sweet Paws animals are loved a great deal by their rescuers, fosters, and the volunteers who've cared for them along the way. Your kitten will be up to date on appropriate vaccinations by adoption day, but please keep in mind that kittens require multiple routine vet visits throughout the course of their first year. Sweet Paws is staffed by volunteers, and processing applications is time intensive; therefore, we ask that you only submit an application if you are fully committed to adopting.
