Meet Oscar — Part Cat, Part Fox, Part... Velociraptor?
Oscar may look like a handsome little fox, but wait until you hear him purr.
His purr is somewhere between Chewbacca, a velociraptor, and Gizmo, occasionally followed by a mysterious little “bloop.” And when he gets REALLY excited? The whole production can escalate until there’s apparently something resembling a cow moo involved.
We’re not entirely sure what species Oscar is impersonating at any given moment, but we are sure he’s absolutely adorable.
At about 8 months old, Oscar is an incredibly affectionate, people-loving boy who believes pets should be plentiful and personal space is highly overrated. He’ll actually wrap his paws around your arm for a full-on Oscar hug while happily soaking up scratches from his head all the way to the tip of his fluffy tail.
And that tail! Between his orange-and-white coloring, fluffy plume and sweet little face, Oscar has more than a passing resemblance to a tiny fox. He’s also ridiculously soft, with pink skin peeking through portions of his white fur for an extra little splash of Oscar originality.
Oscar’s story didn’t start out nearly as happily. He showed up in a neighborhood sick, beaten up and clearly in need of somewhere safe to land. He was more than ready to come inside and begin healing—and what a transformation it’s been.
The boy who arrived needing help has blossomed into a happy, healthy, confident little character with an enormous capacity for affection. He’s trusting, curious, playful and wonderfully devoted to his people. His difficult beginning certainly didn’t dull his spirit—it just makes seeing the joyful, quirky boy he is today that much sweeter.
He came looking for safety. He found it. Now he’s ready to find a home of his own.
Oscar is also quite the little adventurer. He goes camping regularly and travels well in his carrier! Apparently this tiny fox-cat has places to go and things to see.
When he isn’t off on an excursion, he’s perfectly happy batting around mice and spring toys, entertaining himself, playing with his people or lounging in a window to supervise whatever is happening outside.
And after a busy day of playing, exploring and providing questionable animal impressions, Oscar is all about the snuggles. At bedtime, he happily curls up at the foot of the bed after getting his nightly dose of affection.
Oscar has done well with older children and seems adaptable enough to enjoy a busy household or a laid-back one. Give him plenty of pets, toys, love and opportunities for those signature Oscar hugs, and this sweet boy should feel right at home.
Come for the handsome orange-and-white face.
Stay for the arm hugs.
And prepare yourself for the Chewbacca-velociraptor-Gizmo-cow purr.
Oscar is around 8 months old and he is neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV- negative/negative, vaccinated, been treated with topical flea control and dewormed.
