Sparky - Terrier and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Monticello, Iowa

Sparky is one happy, energetic boy who is proving that a little training can go a long way! This lovable guy has been working hard and has made some incredible progress. He has learned "down," "out," and a long-distance recall cue of "Sparky, here," and he is showing just how smart and eager to learn he is.

Sparky has also been working on threshold training and has learned to sit and wait patiently at doors until he hears "break." He does this at the house, kennel, and even the car door. He has also learned to remain calm in the car, settling into a "down" until he's given the release cue. These skills are helping him learn how to manage his excitement and make good choices.

And speaking of adventures, Sparky is amazing on walks! He truly enjoys getting out and exploring with his people. He has even kicked his jumping habit and no longer jumps on people, which is a huge accomplishment for this enthusiastic boy.

Sparky gets along great with other dogs, but if he had his choice, he'd much rather be hanging out with his human. His favorite thing in the entire world is snuggling. In fact, snuggling is about the only time this little energizer bunny is completely calm. Once he's curled up next to you, he's perfectly content to soak up all the affection he can get.

Sparky's biggest challenge is his energy. He has an endless supply of it, but it's happy, excited energy. He wants to experience everything, go everywhere, learn new things, and be part of the action. His ideal family will embrace that enthusiasm and give him plenty of exercise, training, enrichment, and adventure.

Sparky is smart, affectionate, incredibly happy, and eager to please. He's come a long way, and we can't wait to see what he accomplishes next.
