Meet Ducky
Ducky's journey began as a heartbreaking story of survival.
She was one of more than 40 dogs living in terrible conditions inside a studio apartment before being seized by Animal Control. After time to decompress and socialize, Ducky was placed in what everyone hoped would be her forever home. Sadly, that placement did not last and after 1 1/2 months, she was returned to the shelter with stories that did not reflect the sweet dog she truly was.
Days later, an amazing senior stepped forward, hoping to give Ducky the loving companion home she deserved. But Ducky was still terrified, confused, and unsure of the world around her. She slipped from her adopter's arms in the driveway and spent the next five days and four nights hiding in bushes, being chased by coyotes, and surviving among predators on a San Diego County golf course.
Once our team safely secured her, we all agreed Ducky deserved more than another stop along the way. She deserved a real chance to heal, settle in, and finally know what forever feels like.
What we have learned is that Ducky is full of life, incredibly loving, and much braver than her past would suggest. She loves people, thrives with another dog, and is ready for someone who will give her the time, patience, and commitment she has always deserved.

Ideal Home
Ducky would do best in a calmer household with loving, steady people and at least one confident dog companion. She would be happy soaking up quiet days as a couch buddy, curling up in someone's lap, or joining her family for adventures with her canine friend by her side. She is looking for a home that understands that trust takes time—but once she knows she is safe, she has so much love to give.
Ducky has survived things no dog should ever have to face, yet she still chooses love, connection, and joy. She is not looking for perfection—just a family willing to mean it when they say forever. Give Ducky safety, patience, a dog friend, and a place in your heart, and she will remind you every day what resilience and unconditional love truly look like.
