Hi, I'm Barbie, not nearly the extrovert my namesake is but just as poised and just as loyal! I'm three years old and weigh 24 pounds. I'm shy by nature but once I feel safe, my heart opens up and it's all cuddles and naps on laps from there!
Favorite Things: Once trust is built and she makes a connection, Barbie loves staying close to her special person. Early reports suggested she was wary of men, but she fell head over heels when she met her foster dad. She loves a game of fetch, time outdoors, neighborhood walks, and then another game of fetch!
Training & Manners: Barbie is housetrained when let out on a regular schedule. She will benefit from continued coaching and patience as she continues to learn house manners. She also needs additional training on leash walking. So much is new to her, so this little sweetheart will do best with a family who is willing to help her navigate life in a loving home. Barbie is still getting used to riding in a car but tolerates it well. She sleeps soundly in the people bed at night in her foster home.
Health & Care: Barbie is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. She'll just need her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. Regular baths and nail trims will keep this beauty looking and feeling her best.
Other Animals: Barbie gets along well with other dogs and would likely benefit from a calm canine sibling who can show her the ropes. She has not been tested with cats, but her foster mom suspects she would do fine.
Children: This sweet girl is good with children of all ages!
Ideal Home: Barbie isn't picky and would do fine in an apartment, condo, townhouse or single home. She can be left alone in the home in a secure space for a few hours without issues.
Overall: If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet young pup who needs a loving hand to guide her, Barbie might be the one for you. If you think she might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, her foster family will reach out with more information. The adoption donation is $425.
