Meet Sierra, a sweet husky mix whose story begins in a place no dog wants to be. She came to us from the SEAACA shelter, and it was there, surrounded by noise and uncertainty, that Sierra gave birth to a litter of puppies. Most of us would struggle to imagine doing something so brave and so vulnerable in a kennel, but Sierra did it with grace.
Through all of it, she stayed gentle. Staff and volunteers who worked with her saw the same thing over and over: a girl who was patient with her babies, attentive to every one of them, and kind to the people who cared for her. She is a truly wonderful mom, and that same nurturing nature shows up in how she treats everyone she meets.
Now that Sierra is out of the shelter and in a home environment, we're getting to know the dog behind the devoted mother. She is affectionate and sweet, and she loves to be close to her people. Like any husky mix, she will likely bring her own share of energy, intelligence, and opinions, so she'll do best with an adopter who enjoys an active, engaged dog and understands the breed's love of exercise and mischief.
Sierra has spent so much of her young life giving to others. She took care of her puppies when she had very little herself. Now it's her turn to be taken care of. She is looking for a family who will give her a soft place to land, a warm bed, plenty of walks, and a lifetime of the love she has so freely given. If you've been looking for a loyal, tender-hearted companion, Sierra is ready to meet you.
