Sweetie’s journey to finding her forever home hasn’t been easy. She was originally surrendered to the City of Houston Shelter when her family decided they had too many dogs. Thankfully, she was adopted by a kind older woman and began settling into her new life. Sadly, her new mom suffered a heart attack and was no longer able to care for her.

I welcomed Sweetie into my home, initially hoping she could return to her mom once she recovered. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible, and now this precious little girl is looking for another forever home where she can finally settle in and be loved for the rest of her life.

At just 3 years old and 8 pounds, Sweetie is a Shih Tzu mix with a heart full of affection. She absolutely loves her people! She'll happily give you kisses, curl up in your lap, and snuggle close for cuddle time! If you're looking for a little companion to share your couch and your heart, Sweetie is ready for the job!

Sweetie also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and especially enjoys having a canine buddy around her own size to play with. She loves her daily walks and enjoys playing with toys! . She has the perfect combination of playful moments and sweet snuggle time!

Sweetie may need a little extra patience as she adjusts to her next home. We believe her original family may have kept her outdoors much of the time, so she is not yet house trained and is a work in progress. She will need a loving, understanding adopter who is willing to help her learn a consistent routine and give her time to succeed. She does great on a walk and does her business! She will potty on pee pads inside.

Sweetie recently had a grooming appointment and is sporting a shorter haircut right now. You’ll also find a photo of her with her longer coat, so you can see just how adorable she looks both ways!

Sweetie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She is ready to leave the uncertainty behind and find a family who will cherish her, keep her safe, and never give up on her.
