Ole Red – A Second Chance at Life
Ole Red didn't have an easy start. He was rescued from a severe hoarding and neglect situation with his brother, Bandit. They were malnourished, frightened, and suffering from Demodex mange that had left much of their skin bare, sore, and painful. Despite everything they had endured, neither puppy had given up on people.
Since coming into foster care, these two boys have experienced what it means to be loved. With nutritious food, veterinary care, medicated baths, and plenty of patience, their bodies have healed remarkably. Their beautiful coats are growing back, their eyes are bright, and their playful puppy personalities shine a little more every day.
Ole Red, estimated to be 6-7 months old, was named for the few tufts of reddish fur he had when he arrived. He had the longer road to recovery, but he has blossomed into a handsome, affectionate young dog whose confidence grows every day.
One of the most remarkable things about these boys is their gentle nature. They live peacefully alongside dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, goats, and turkeys, and they have shown no signs of aggression—only curiosity, kindness, and a desire to be part of the family. They are learning household routines, enjoying structure, and discovering just how wonderful life can be.
Bandit and Ole Red are proof that love, patience, and a second chance can change everything. They have left their difficult past behind and are ready to begin the next chapter of their lives with families who will cherish them forever. They deserve homes where they'll never have to wonder if they're safe, hungry, or alone again—only where they'll be loved for the rest of their lives.
