Meet Rhyne! Rhyne is a 9-month-old, 35 lb Lab mix who is equal parts independent sweetheart and playful companion. She's a calm, quiet presence in the home-usually found curled up in her favorite cozy spot, keeping a gentle eye on her humans, and happily entertaining herself with toys (including a very impressive solo game of fetch!).
Her superpowers include being incredibly self-sufficient, sleeping soundly through the night, and having the cutest habit of bringing toys over for tug-of-war-then politely placing them right back in your hand when you "accidentally" let go. She's also a great walking buddy, strolling nicely by your side after a few excited minutes at the start.
Rhyne would do best in a home without young kids, as she can get a little excitable and benefits from clear, consistent boundaries. She may also do best as the only dog in the home, as she can show some reactivity on leash and resource guarding with other pets. On walks, she's generally well-behaved-but if she spots a squirrel or another dog, her excitement can take over, so she'll need a confident, strong handler who can keep her focused and grounded.
She's nearly potty trained and is doing a great job learning her routine-she keeps her crate clean and will even let you know when she needs to go out if she's inside it. With a little patience as she continues to adjust, she's on a great path!
Some of her favorite things include tug-of-war, long walks, and proudly carrying her toys around the house to share with her people.
If you're looking for a loyal, low-key best friend who will keep you company, make you smile with her quirky play style, and snuggle up nearby at the end of the day, Rhyne might just be your perfect match.
Rhyne is currently being fostered in Queens, NY. Her adoption fee is $550.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
