Kiya - Shepherd Dog for Adoption in Pottstown, Pennsylvania

Sometimes the right people step in at exactly the right moment, and that's how this beautiful little girl found her way to Mostly Muttz.

Kiya is an approximately 8-week-old Shepherd mix whose mama is a 45–50 pound Shepherd mix and whose dad is unknown. A Berks County family learned that Kiya and her siblings faced an uncertain future after being told their owner would be “getting rid of” the puppies if someone didn't take them. They stepped in to help Kiya, cared for her exceptionally well, and began looking for a way to make sure she ended up in a really great home. They reached out to our rescue for help, and here she is!

Kiya has spent the last two weeks receiving an incredible start, and it shows. This observant little girl is exceptionally smart and already responding beautifully to both verbal commands and hand signals. At just eight weeks old, she is walking wonderfully on a leash and has an impressive head start on potty training. The family that rescued her clearly put a lot of time, love, and attention into helping her become the little puppy she is today. She is now with one of our regular foster families and they are impressed!

Kiya has such a wonderful personality to go along with those smarts. She has all the fun and playfulness you'd expect from a puppy, but she isn't over the top. She has an adventurous spirit and loves exploring the world around her, while still keeping an eye on her person and wanting to stay close.

When the playing is done, Kiya is more than happy to settle in for a good snuggle. She bonds closely with her people, loves affection, and seems to have figured out very early in life that being near the people she loves is a pretty great place to be.

Smart, playful, adventurous, affectionate, and already off to an incredible start, Kiya has so much potential. Now she just needs a family who will continue everything that has been started for her and give this special little girl the forever she deserves.

Kiya is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and will be able to head home with her adoptive family on or after 10/9.
