DESCRIPTION
Meet Mikaboshi (formerly Cthulhu)!
Mikaboshi has already had quite the journey in his young life.
Originally named Cthulhu, he was born right here at Pups Without Borders on 6/14/25 as part of Nessie’s adorable Mythical Creatures litter. When we rescued Nessie from a colony of dogs living in heartbreaking conditions in Lucerne Valley, we had no idea she was pregnant. Shortly after arriving safely into our care, she gave birth to her beautiful puppies, giving them all a fresh start in life.
Mikaboshi was adopted on 8/5/25 and has been deeply loved by his family ever since. Unfortunately, due to circumstances completely beyond his adopter’s control, she is now being forced to rehome him. Family members in the home have made it clear that they no longer want dogs in the house and have threatened eviction if she does not find another placement for him. This has been an incredibly painful decision, and she is doing everything she can to make sure he finds the loving home he deserves.
Mikaboshi is a stunning white shepherd mix with a beautiful cream-colored coat, a bright mind, and a playful spirit. He is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, rides wonderfully in the car, and is up to date on vaccinations and neutered.
This handsome boy is incredibly intelligent and eager to please. He already knows several commands including sit, down, shake, get up, and leave it. Because he is such a smart pup, he thrives with short, fun training sessions rather than long structured ones. Puzzle toys, enrichment activities, training games, and interactive play are right up his alley.
Like many young shepherd mixes, Mikaboshi is energetic and will need an active family committed to giving him both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He enjoys walks, dog park outings, playing ball, and spending quality time with his people. If he becomes bored, his mischievous side may come out in the form of counter surfing or turning stolen household items into a fun game of chase.
He is wonderful with children, although due to his playful enthusiasm he may accidentally knock over very small kiddos. He does well with other dogs and is a sweet, affectionate companion. Around new adults he can initially be a little shy, but with a few treats and a couple of minutes, his goofy, loving personality quickly shines through.
Mikaboshi answers to both Mikaboshi (pronounced mee-KAH-bo-she) and Mikachan, and his adopter is generously sending him with his XL kennel, beds, toys, puzzles, treats, and a six-month supply of Simparica Trio to help make his transition easier.
Right now, our hearts break for this boy because he is being uprooted from the only stability he has ever known. We are urgently looking for a foster home to get him out of his current difficult situation, while ultimately hoping to find an adopter who understands young shepherd mixes and can help guide him through this playful adolescent stage.
Mikaboshi is not a bad dog. He is a wonderful dog who is simply young, smart, energetic, and in need of patience, structure, and love.
Could you be the person to help this beautiful boy begin his next chapter?
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The shepherd dog breed encompasses a versatile group known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong work ethic. With a heritage deeply rooted in herding and protecting livestock, shepherds excel at various tasks ranging from obedience and agility competitions to search and rescue missions. Their protective nature makes them excellent family pets, offering unwavering devotion and a natural instinct to watch over and care for their loved ones. In addition to their remarkable abilities, shepherds are often characterized by their distinctive appearance, including a sturdy build, alert expression, and a signature double coat that provides insulation and protection in various climates.
