Meet Sadie!
Sadie is a stunning German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love, a passion for tennis balls, and a personality that is absolutely worth waiting for! This beautiful girl may be a little shy when you first meet her, but underneath that cautious exterior is the happiest, wiggliest, goofiest dog who just wants to love her people and play with her furry friends.

Sadie's absolute favorite thing in the world is playing with other dogs! She makes canine friends easily and loves nothing more than running, wrestling, chasing, and bouncing around with her buddies. She would especially thrive with a confident, outgoing canine sibling who can show her the ropes. She also lives peacefully with cats and isn't particularly interested in them.

When it comes to people, Sadie just needs a little extra time. New faces, unfamiliar places, and unexpected sounds can be overwhelming for her, so she prefers to get to know someone at her own pace. But once you've earned her trust, get ready for a completely different dog! Sadie transforms into a wiggly, joyful, affectionate pup who runs around like she's just won the lottery. Her humans quickly become her absolute favorite people, and she isn't shy about showing just how happy she is to see them!

Sadie is also a very smart girl with excellent house manners. She is fully house-trained, potty-trained, and crate-trained, knows basic commands, and is wonderfully food-motivated. Treats, tennis balls, and a predictable routine are the way to her heart! She currently lives with two adults and their baby and does well in a family environment. As with adults, children should give her the space and time she needs to feel comfortable before expecting interaction.

Sadie will thrive in a patient, understanding home that appreciates the importance of going slowly, building trust, and maintaining a consistent routine. A securely fenced yard is a must, as she can be a flight risk when frightened by unfamiliar sights or sounds. Another confident, playful dog would be a huge bonus, both as her best friend and as a reassuring companion while she continues discovering the world.

Most of all, Sadie needs someone who understands that the best relationships sometimes take a little time. She doesn't need someone to change who she is, just someone willing to let her blossom at her own pace. Once she realizes she's safe, she'll reward that patience with a lifetime of love.

Sadie's early history is not fully known, but her cautious nature suggests that the world hasn't always been an easy place for her. She came to IAR from a rural shelter and is continuing to build confidence in her foster home, where predictable routines, gentle encouragement, and the companionship of other dogs have helped her feel increasingly safe and comfortable.

Sadie is an healthy active girl who is up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and will soon be microchipped and spayed.
