Bort is a sweet, affectionate boy who enjoys being close to his people. He may be a little shy in new surroundings, but once he feels comfortable, his gentle, loving personality comes out and he's always happy to soak up some attention and cuddles.

Bort will do best in a calm home with adults or patient older teens who will give him time to settle in and get comfortable. He loves playing with other dogs and enjoys a good bit of rough-and-tumble, so a sturdy, patient dog who enjoys an active playmate would be a great match.

Bort is very interested in deer and rabbits and can easily scale a 4-foot barrier when excited. He'll need either a 6-foot fenced yard or a commitment to keeping him on a secure leash whenever he's outdoors. He doesn't try to escape otherwise, but wildlife is just too tempting!

Bort walks well on a leash, though he'll pull when he spots small critters or other dogs. He knows "sit" and "wait," especially when there's food involved! He is mostly house-trained, with only an occasional accident, and has wonderful house manners. He doesn't chew things and is generally an easy, well-mannered housemate.
