Casey is an absolute hunk of love—the perfect mix of big dog in a smaller package! You’d never know from his love for people that he once had to fend for himself beside a freeway.
Ideal home: Somewhere he can be part of the family and enjoy plenty of companionship. He’s happy with leisurely neighbourhood walks but could also keep up with a more active family. His favourite place? Wherever his humans are!
Kids: Gentle and respectful with his foster family’s 3-year-old and 1-year-old, though still unsure around the baby. Older, more predictable children would likely be his best fit.
Dogs: Good with dogs and non-reactive on leash. He would likely be happy with another dog or as your only pup.
Cats: Calm and indifferent during a few encounters with a neighbourhood cat.
Casey walks beautifully in quieter areas and is gaining confidence around vehicles. He knows sit, shake a paw and comes when called or whistled for! He’s working on down and stay, discovering toys and learning fetch. With a little encouragement, this mellow boy becomes an adorably uncoordinated goofball prancing around the yard.
His favourite things are belly rubs, snuggles and being close to his people. If he could spend all day in your lap, he would! He’s gentle with guests, and his foster family hasn’t heard him bark.
It’s been lovely watching Casey come out of his shell and show more of his playful personality each day. He’s still working on feeling comfortable in his crate and spending time apart from his humans.
