Schnauzer and Poodle Dogs Available for Adoption in Boulder, Colorado

Cheddar arrived in Colorado on 4/10 after being rescued from the streets of Texas, where he was surviving on his own before spending time in a foster home. Now he’s ready to find a forever family to call his own.

This boy is 100% sweetness. Even with all the recent changes, Cheddar has been incredibly gentle and adaptable. He’s currently settling into a foster home with a small senior dog and a cat, and he’s doing wonderfully with both.

Because Cheddar spent time living outdoors, new environments can feel a little overwhelming at first but he adjusts quickly, especially with a few tasty treats- He's tackled learning stairs, does great in the car and haven't heard a bark come out of his mouth-even when his foster sister does. He’s already learning the comforts of home life and has discovered the joy of cozy dog beds and relaxing inside with his people.

Cheddar is a great mix of playful and chill. He enjoys walks and being outside, but once he’s home, he’s happy to flop down and relax. He’s also a total lovebug who enjoys cuddles and belly rubs.

Personality & Compatibility:

LOVES other dogs. He respects his small senior foster sister's space but loves when another dog wants to play with him. He would do great in a home where there is another dog and/or would like to make time to play with other dogs.
Calm and respectful with cats
Has been sweet and gentle when meeting kids on walks
Crate trained and settling into home routines

Health Note:
Like many dogs rescued from Texas, Cheddar is heartworm positive. The good news: this condition is treatable and not contagious to other pets. He has already started treatment (30 days of doxycycline) and will receive three follow-up injections beginning in June. All treatment costs are covered through our Golden Vet.
