Meet Laurel! She's about 5 years old, 19 pounds, and slowly figuring out that the world isn't such a scary place.

Laurel came to us after originally being an owner surrender to a local shelter, and we don't know much about her background. When she first arrived to us, everything felt overwhelming for her. New sounds, new places, even just normal movement around her was a lot, and she would sometimes freeze up instead of moving forward.

But she's come a long way since then!

With time and a steady routine, Laurel has started to relax and open up. Now you'll see her getting curious, following along with the other dogs, and showing little playful moments when she feels safe. It's been really nice watching her go from unsure to interested in what's going on around her again.

She does especially well with other calm dogs and seems to take a lot of confidence from them. With people, she can still be a little shy at first, but she's gentle and observant. Once she decides you're her friend, she starts to seek you out and wants to stay close by.

Laurel isn't the type to rush into anything. She takes her time, watches the situation, and warms up at her own pace. What she's really looking for is a calm, predictable home where she can keep building confidence and feel secure.
