Kona - Pit Bull Terrier and Boxer Dog for Adoption in Dallas, Texas

My name is Kona, my parents call me Konie, Kones, Kona Bologna, & couch potato. I am a 5.5 year old lover!! One thing about me is I'm a cuddler, if you need a shoulder to cry on, a pillow, or a semi soft place to land, I'm your girl. I looove to sleep, preferably on the couch or your bed but will accept a dog bed or the floor. One of my favorite past times is licking- the air, your hand, your face, food off the floor, pretty much anything my tongue can reach.
I enjoy being outside in my fenced backyard, sunbathing or just taking in the smells. Do not try to play fetch with me because I am what you call un-athletic. So I am a smidge overweight but I have a good excuse!! Last year I think I tore some tendons in my hind knees, so I'm taking this time to rest and recover! No high activity for me, I like short strolls through the neighborhood or keeping your spot on the couch warm. I can get really excited if I hear a dog on the other side of the fence though and try to chase them. I'm actually really fast, but that's how I hurt my knees. They seem to be healing though, I can still get up on the couch and have stairs to get on mom and dad's bed. I just take my time climbing and I might let out a toot on the way up.

My mom calls me a pig because I guess I'm "food motivated", whatever that means. I love my hard brown rocks morning and night but don't appreciate this slow feeder mom put me on. Don't try to throw treats my direction to catch because I am not quick on my feet and they just hit me in the face. You can just put them directly in my big, open mouth.
I definitely hate being in crates so that's a no go for me, I'll sleep in bed with you, under the covers and keep you safe and warm. I do have some separation anxiety and just love to be near my human when I can. If you need to go potty, I'll go with you to make sure nothing happens. Side note, I do okay on car rides but probably wouldn't want to do that everyday. Also, I have these rings called tuffy toys that I really love and will beat you at tug of war anytime because I'm really strong!

I would really love to stay with my family now, I love them sooo much but my parents say I'm stronger than I know. I just got a little human sister 8 months ago who I really want to lick and sniff but they just keep telling me, "easy, Kona". I am being easy but dad is nervous I'm going to get aggressive on accident or get too excited and hurt her because she's smaller than me. I'm a real nosey girl too so I try to get in everyone's business even when they say they don't need my help.

I've never been aggressive with my humans but I do get anxious with too much excitement and I just love my hoomans a lot so I don't know how to control myself sometimes. But for the most part, I'm a chill and happy girl. Maybe a calm, slow paced home is just what I need! They say maybe a person or couple with no little humans around or visiting often just to be on the safe side! I'm a big homebody and wouldn't mind just laying around the house all day or working from home if that's what you do!

I can be a jumper but it's just because I want to give you kisses. I am a big girl, weighing 83 lbs but my brown and brindle color is slimming so you wouldn't know. I would really just wuv for someone to love and cuddle me for the rest of my life.

I can be left home alone for long periods (6-8 hours at a time), I'm really good at holding my potty and never have accidents in the house! I might throw up here and there if I get a tummy ache though, I'm sorry I can't help it. I am not sure if I should make new friends with another dog/cat or just be a lone wolf. Right now I have a 6 year old shepherd sissy but she gets annoyed with me everytime I want to play with her. I haven't been around many other animals in a while so I'm not sure how I would do. I used to live with a cat too who would swat me away when I got close - how rude - I just wanted to say hi!
To sum up, if you don't have any little kiddos around and don't mind a big girl sleeping in your bed, I would love to meet you. I'm a really sweet girl, my parents say. I've heard them say it's going to break their hearts rehoming me and I think it's because they love me as much as I love them. They don't think I'll ever try to hurt my little sister but they just don't want to take a chance and say they want to give me the best life I deserve, isn't that nice?!
