DESCRIPTION
I am not currently at the shelter because I'm growing big and strong in a foster home! *Staff thinks I will be ready by Late August*. Chunk—also known as Chunky Monkey or Mr. Chunk—is a sweet, brave little pup with a heart full of adventure. While sudden noises make him pause, he bounces back to play with enthusiasm—especially with his sister and the big dog in his foster home. Chunk dreams of being best buddies with the resident dog, following her every move. He’s learning tug games, lives a good fluffy toy, and has already mastered sitting for treats! While he’s got a little alpha energy in play, he listens well when corrected. This little chunk loves curling up in your lap, laying on his back - full belly out and snoozing, but is also fine sleeping at your feet. Chunk’s a foodie, but not pushy about it, and yes—he’s still working on avoiding the temptation to eat his foster human’s shoes & socks! Ready for a buddy with both spunk and sweetness? Chunk is your guy! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-302-8707; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed per animal. Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. I want to be healthy for our new life together!
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Pit Bull Terrier is a resilient and loyal breed known for its muscular build and loving nature. Originally bred for bull baiting and later dog fighting, Pit Bulls today are beloved family pets cherished for their gentle temperament and playful personality. With proper training and socialization, Pit Bull Terriers make affectionate companions that thrive on human interaction. Recognized for their strength and agility, these dogs require regular exercise and mental stimulation to channel their energy positively, reinforcing their reputation as devoted and trainable pets.
