If you remember Cayenne, who joined us last week, we'd like to introduce you to his equally adorable brother, Jalapeno! This handsome brindle boy is about a year old, weighs approximately 40 pounds, and has one of the cutest faces we've ever seen.

Jalapeno and his siblings were part of an accidental litter born into a home in Kentucky. Their owner initially kept the puppies, presumably with every intention of raising them all. But as often happens in these situations, a houseful of adorable little puppies eventually becomes a houseful of adolescent dogs, and what once seemed manageable becomes anything but! Jalapeno and his siblings were ultimately surrendered to a shelter, where they spent the next five and a half months.

Despite spending nearly half his young life in a shelter, Jalapeno is a sweet, happy boy with so much potential! His previous owner reported that he lived with and did wonderfully with children, cats, and other dogs. And his love for dogs is certainly evident at our shelter, where he comes alive during playgroups! He loves the company of other dogs and seems to gain confidence from being around them.

One thing we're learning about Jalapeno is that he hasn't had much experience walking on a leash. But that's okay (and not uncommon with our southern dogs!). His brother Cayenne arrived with the very same lack of experience, and just one week later, he's walking like a pro! We have every reason to believe Jalapeno will catch on just as quickly with a little patience and practice.

At just a year old, Jalapeno has so much life ahead of him, and we're excited for him to experience all the things he may have missed out on while growing up in a shelter. He's a wonderful young dog who just needs someone willing to show him the ropes.

Come meet this handsome little pepper...er, we mean pupper!

Jalapeno's adoption fee is $300. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
