Andy may just be the sweetest boy you will ever meet. He is a perfect medium size at 40 lbs, a great age, and he has the best personality. He is so loving, without being clingy, and so well-behaved. Andy is the kind of dog that curls into you the minute you lean down. He loves all people and other dogs.

He came to Heartland from our partner shelter in Alabama, in a very rural area where adopters are few and far between. We were so happy to bring him to Heartland where he can meet people who will see what an amazing dog he is and find a forever home!

Andy lived in a foster home in Alabama with Locke, a pup we brought to Heartland as well, and several other dogs. His foster mom says, "Andy is the best dog. I don't have a bad word to say about him. He is simply perfect."

But Andy isn't just a handsome face. He is smart, fun, and just the right combination of energetic and snuggly. If you've been looking for an adventure pal who also likes to nap on the couch with you on a rainy afternoon, come and meet Andy!

Andy's adoption fee is $300.00 This animal is spayed/neutered and up to date on core vaccines.

Andy is Heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment with us. Heartland will cover the cost of treatment until she is Heartworm negative.

Heartworm disease is common in dogs throughout the United States. It is a mosquito-borne disease and is not contagious to humans or other pets.

If left untreated, heartworm infection can cause death due to lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs of the body.

However, his Heartworm infection was identified and is being treated, and the prognosis is excellent.

Heartworm disease is both preventable and curable. Once cured, a normal quality of life can be expected. It is important for all dogs to stay on lifelong Heartworm prevention, as even Heartworm positive dogs can be reinfected at any time if not current on preventions.

Andy is on a 28 day course of antibiotics, after which he will receive three injections to treat his Heartworm (the first one will be on 10/13/26, with the final two on 11/11/26 and 11/12/26). All treatments will take place at our shelter with our veterinarian.

That will complete the treatment, but he will need a quick retest at the adopter's vet 9 months post-treatment to make sure that he is Heartworm-free.
