Meet Baxter!

This sweet young man is a mixed breed boy who currently weighs about 32 pounds. He is estimated to be around a year old, but may still continue to grow with time! Baxter arrived to the shelter as a stray and was sadly never reclaimed. Now, he's hoping his next stop will be a forever home where he can fully feel safe and settled.

The shelter has been a scary place for this gentle boy. He is a friendly fella, but the unfamiliar environment and all of the hustle and bustle of shelter life can feel overwhelming to him. Because of this, he often prefers to take things slow s he learns that the world isn't such a scary place after all. Despite his nervousness, Baxter has a gentle heart and a whole lot of love to give!

Baxter is searching for a calm and patient family that will let him move at his own pace and celebrate the little wins along the way. With time, consistency, and lots of love, Baxter will quickly blossom into the wonderful companion we know hes capable of becoming.

During his dog test, Baxter showed those glimpses of confidence as he enjoyed playing with another dog in our play yard. Having another dog around may help him continue to gain trust. He has the potential to live with another dog in the home. Baxter has the potential to live with a feline friend with proper introductions. At this time staff believe Baxter would do best in a home with children 10 and older while he learns to gain some confidence and continue to grow into his big boy paws!

Baxter will be in our foster-to-adopt program as he awaits his upcoming neuter surgery. During this time he is available to head to his forever home, where his adoption can be finalized after his procedure is complete!
