Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Fairfax, Virginia

ROCKY ROAD

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Fairfax, Virginia
April 20th
male, medium, adult

DESCRIPTION

Meet Rocky Road! This dignified 44-pound pup is friendly and engaging, and will greet you with happy tail wags! He is very food-motivated, and will look at you with hopeful eyes waiting for some delicious treats. He already knows commands, such as sit, down, and paw. He loves getting attention, and enjoys playing fetch. Rocky Road’s previous family said that he was a good boy with his housetraining, and was kind and gentle around children.

Rocky Road came to shelter with another dog he used to live with, Reagan, when their family could no longer care for them. While Rocky Road and Reagan are not a bonded pair, they get along very well together! Because of this, if an adopter wishes to adopt both, we will only charge one adoption fee. What’s better than a BOGO deal for two amazing dogs?! Rocky Road is looking for a home without cats or free-roaming small animals, and can be particular about his dog friends, so if you have another dog at home and are interested in adopting Rocky Road (and maybe Reagan too), please bring your canine companion to the shelter to meet Rocky Road and see if he is a good fit! Rocky Road is a wonderful boy with lots of love to give, so come and adopt him today!

This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!

Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Michael R. Frey Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
