Graz - Mixed Breed Dog Available for Adoption in Fairfax, Virginia

GRAZ

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Fairfax, Virginia
June 3rd
male, large, adult

DESCRIPTION

Graz’s journey began when he arrived at the shelter as a quiet, mysterious stray whose past remains unknown, carrying with him an air of independence and calm watchfulness. At first aloof and unsure, he slowly began settling into the routines of shelter life, showing staff that while he may take his time warming up, he is gentle, tolerant, and steady once he feels safe. During his assessment, Graz allowed all handling with a relaxed posture and soft expression, approaching assessors out of curiosity but not seeking prolonged affection. He showed no interest in toys and politely allowed his food bowl to be handled, demonstrating an easygoing attitude around resources. In a meeting with another male dog, Graz approached slowly and respectfully, shared a calm greeting, and maintained a relaxed interest after disengaging. With his thoughtful nature, subtle body language, and preference for quiet, low-pressure interactions, Graz is best suited to an adult home—ideally one familiar with shepherd-type dogs—where he can adjust at his own pace and build confidence. With patience, gentle guidance, and the support of a trainer to help him continue to grow, Graz has the potential to become a loyal, observant companion to the right person or family.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
