One of our Newest Rescue Dogs from right here in Oregon.

Sometimes rescue isn't about saving dogs from people who don't care-it's about helping people who care deeply but have simply run out of options.

Just one week ago, Street Dog Hero welcomed six deserving dogs into our program from a family in Christmas Valley, Oregon, after they made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to ask for help. Like so many families facing hardship, they loved their dogs dearly. They simply found themselves in circumstances where they could no longer provide the level of care these dogs deserved. After reaching out to several rescues throughout Central Oregon without success, they eventually found their way to Street Dog Hero.

Because they asked for help... these six dogs are now safe. When they arrived, several were suffering from heat exhaustion after spending their lives outdoors through the extreme summer temperatures in the high desert. Today, they're finally getting the chance to rest comfortably, cool down, and begin the next chapter of their lives. We also want to recognize this family's commitment to doing the right thing moving forward. They've already committed to bringing their remaining animals to one of Street Dog Hero's free community spay and neuter clinics to help ensure they never find themselves in this heartbreaking situation again. That kind of responsibility deserves recognition, and we're grateful they reached out before things became even more difficult. Right now, we're still getting to know each of these wonderful dogs. Over the coming week, each one will complete our comprehensive veterinary process, including:
Wellness examination
Core vaccinations and rabies vaccine
Microchip
Spay or neuter surgery
Ongoing medical evaluation and care as needed
We'll be learning more about each dog's unique personality, temperament, favorite activities, and the type of forever home where they'll thrive.

For now, we've created a General Interest List for each dog - and, for some of them, interest is already pouring in! Interested adopters are encouraged to submit an adoption application through our website so they can join the interest list and receive updates as these lucky pups progress through their medical care and become ready for adoption.
