Milo • 14.8 lbs • Senior (Estimated 9–11 yrs) • Medical Case
Milo was brought to the shelter during an Adult Protective Services call after his owner and caretaker were removed for longterm care. He had been living in extremely poor conditions, and it shows — but this little senior has a gentle spirit and a calm, grateful demeanor that shines through even now. “He seemed calm but I’m sure he was overwhelmed.”
After a bath, Milo already looked noticeably better, though his skin is still raw, cracked, and painful in places. The strong odor he carries is due to severe skin deterioration, something that will require veterinary treatment and time to heal. “He does still smell very bad. It’s because of the deterioration of his skin.” Aloe has helped, and staff are monitoring him closely. He drinks a lot of water, pees frequently, and may have underlying medical needs that a vet will evaluate soon.
Despite everything he’s endured, Milo is sweet, quiet, and incredibly gentle. He walks beautifully on a leash, wants to be near people, and even tries to squeeze through small gaps just to follow volunteers. He gave a little holler when picked up — likely from a tender spot — but otherwise remains patient and trusting. He’s not fixed, may have limited hearing, and is estimated to be a senior around 9–11 years old.
Milo deserves a soft landing, a peaceful home, and someone who will cherish him for the rest of his days. He is a medical case and will need continued care, but he has the heart of a survivor and the sweetness of a dog who still believes people can be kind.
If you’re looking to give a senior dog a second chance at comfort, dignity, and love, Milo is waiting.
