Animae is a puppy mill survivor who is discovering that life can be pretty wonderful when it involves soft couches, kind people, dog friends, and absolutely no pressure to be anything but herself.

She's cautious and observant at first. Basically, Animae is a tiny detective. She watches everything, studies the other dogs, and takes notes before deciding, “Okay, I think this is safe.”

Once she settles in, though? Sweet, happy, affectionate, and surprisingly silly.

Animae LOVES other dogs and would do best with a confident canine companion to show her the ropes. She happily follows their lead and learns by watching them. Her friends can be tiny—she's comfortable with dogs from about 4 to 35 pounds.

She's also good with cats and kids, although she's still learning about personal space.

Her favorite activities include:

Watching everyone like a tiny private investigator
Curling up on the sofa with her people
Following her dog friends' lead
Getting affection once she's comfortable
Exploring all the new things life has to offer

Animae is housebroken on a routine and knows the important stuff: up, outside, bedtime, go potty, dinner, and “good girl.” She's still learning that being picked up is a normal part of life and is working on feeling comfortable with it.

She'd love a fenced yard and a family with another confident dog. She's a fairly low-key girl who is perfectly happy to spend plenty of time relaxing on the couch.

And honestly, watching Animae figure out the world is pretty special. She spent years being a mama and having very little say in her own life. Now she's learning that she gets to be someone's baby. And she's doing a really good job of it.

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
