Swiffer - Miniature Poodle and Shih Poo Dog for Adoption in Westfield, New York

Swiffer is a survivor! He had been running stray for a whole YEAR before Good Samaritans were able to catch him. He is a 5 year old small breed mix, likely Miniature Poodle and possible Shih Tzu or something similar. Swiffer is timid – understandable, given his past, but has never been snappy. He needs time to adjust to his new & improved circumstances, but with TLC and patience he is sure to settle in. Swiffer is hoping to find a quiet home, maybe with another friendly dog, where he can decompress and relax after his year on the run. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for him. Additional pictures and info will be added as we get to know him.

His temporary foster mom had this to say: He’s good with dogs and cats. He is still a little skittish with new people. It won’t take much to house train him, he just needs a little help.

*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he is a great fit.

If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you.

Not sure if you are ready to adopt? Please consider applying to foster Swiffer, which will lead to a happily ever after adoption, either with you, or the family you help him get ready for! Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience. Learn more and apply on our website, under the “Get Involved” tab.

If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
