Meet Carrie, an 11-week-old female Black Lab Mix that came all the way from Arkansas to find her forever home! Carrie and her littermates were surrendered to a rescue in Arkansas. They reached out to Brookline for help, and we were happy to welcome these adorable pups into our rescue.
The puppies' dad looks like a Black Lab, and their mom looks like a Lab mix. The puppies get their white markings from mommy.
Carrie and her littermates were named after the 1970s movie "Smokey and the Bandit". Carrie is named after Sally Fields' character, a runaway bride who jumps into Bandit's Trans Am and becomes his partner during the high-speed beer running chase. That sounds like our Carrie - she's a feisty little puppy (the smallest in the litter) who lets everyone know she is the boss! But she's also cute and cuddly and you can't help but fall in love with her.
Carrie does all things puppy - chewing, peeing, climbing into all kinds of small spaces - so she must be closely supervised, or crated when you can't keep an eye on her.
Housebreaking is a work in progress - at this point it's more a matter of us getting her outside as often as needed, which is very often!
Carrie sleeps through the night in a crate with her brother, Bandit. They are both quiet and settled in the crate and don't make a sound until we get them up between 7AM and 8AM. Carrie may complain some the first few times she is crated without Bandit. But like all puppies, she will adjust and get used to having her "own room". Carrie is crated for 1-2 hours several times throughout the day so she can nap, and we can get stuff done.
Carrie loves to spend time outside exploring the yard. Because she's so tiny, she can fit through garden fences and crawl through the smallest openings. She loves to run through a fence into the flower garden when her brother, Bandit, is chasing her. Bandit gets to the fence and looks at her like "How did you get in there??"
Carrie is currently being treated for worms so we follow her around ready to pick up poops so we can keep the yard free of infestation. We're getting exercise, too! Carrie should be finished her treatment, or close to finished, by the time she is placed with her new family
We can touch Carrie anywhere - checking her ears, teeth, and paws. At only 12 pounds, she is very easy to scoop up when needed!
Carrie loves wrestling and running with her brother, Bandit, and playing with the big dogs. She is often the one on top when she and Bandit are wrestling, and she is always the one making the most noise!
Carrie is the cutest little peanut with a big personality! You can read more about Carrie's adventures on her blog:

PLEASE NOTE: While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue. (Note: Sometimes a foster home falls in love and adopts their foster dog, so the dog doesn't make it to Available Now).
