Meet Luna....
Luna is a beautiful, both inside and out, golden retriever/black lab mix who is hoping to find her forever home. Luna has been in her northern foster home for approximately two weeks and her foster dad is enjoying every minute with her. Want to hear more?
Luna is a two year old, 70ish pound pup who can be a bit shy initially, but once she gets to know you, she just might be your best friend! A little skittish around men at first, maybe it's because she had a bad experience somewhere along the line? Perhaps it's because she compares them all to her amazing foster dad.....not sure?!
Luna was on a euthanization list in the south...why, you ask? She apparently killed a chicken. While we all feel for the chicken, what red blooded pup wouldn't want to chase down and play with a fluffy little being running around? Her foster dad reports that on walks they have passed wild turkeys on several occasions and she couldn't be more disinterested. She has no experience with cats, but due to her history, we would advise against it.
Kids you ask???? Luna has been exposed to a range of kids....13/17 and 6 years old in the south. Her northern foster dad has a grandson who is 14 and Luna adores him. She does well with other dogs and seems to gravitate towards kids but we would recommend kids a bit older as she is big and can be exuberent.
Luna is not a fan of the crate. She will go in but gets upset if you close the door. Her foster dad reports that she has been left alone in the home when he goes out for several hours at a time and she is typically ensconced on her dog bed when he returns. No damage, no accidents, just calm and relaxed.
She is not a big barker, in fact, her foster dad said he has only heard her bark once in the time she has been with him. He has seen no aggression in any way, shape or form. She is ok on leash but can definitely use a bit more work. He feels that a fence is not mandatory but she does love to romp in the nearby fenced in tennis courts from time to time.
Luna loves to snuggle and is very affectionate. Her foster dad thinks that a quieter house might be best for her. Kids would be a plus as she seems to love them, but a bit older and respectful of her personality, and while she doesn't "need" another dog, she might like to have one to rough and tumble with. As long as her adoptive family an provide that on occasion, she's good!
When her foster dad is home, she follows him around and just enjoys his company. Someone home more often than not seems like the best scenario for her.
Sound like a fit for your family????
