DESCRIPTION

Meet Willow & Sadie, your family's missing two pieces

These 2-year-old Lab/Hound sisters are a bonded pair and will be adopted together. They have been side by side their entire lives, and frankly, they make a pretty excellent little team.

They came to us as scared and extremely emaciated outdoor property dogs who had never experienced much of the world beyond their yard. You may notice from the pictures that they are still quite thin - so restoring them to a healthy body condition takes time. They are now on high-quality food and steadily gaining weight and filling out. Otherwise, they are strong, healthy girls with plenty of energy for play, affection and important backyard supervisory duties.

They adore kids. Theyre gentle, affectionate, and happy to hang out alongside whatever everyone else is doing. Theyre exactly the sort of dogs who can help you raise your kids into kind-hearted, animal-loving little citizens - mostly by being very patient recipients of affection, backyard companionship, and the occasional wildly unnecessary explanation of what they learned at school that day. They enjoy other dogs and have lived around cats, chickens, ducks, goats and other farm animals, making them great candidates for a home with other pets. They may occasionally give a cat or duck a playful chase, but they have shown no concerning prey drive.

Their low-key, easygoing nature makes them wonderfully easy to live with. Theyre happy to simply be near you, without needing constant supervision or entertainment

Sadie is the social ambassador.
Shes typically the first to approach a new person, the first to investigate something new, and the first to vote yes on whatever activity is being proposed. Shes happy, affectionate, playful, and and just as content to settle in when things quiet down.

Sadie loves a good romp with another dog and will enthusiastically pursue a tennis ball. She has not yet found any compelling reason to return said tennis ball, but we respect her boundaries.

Shes the kind of dog who can play with the kids, wrestle with the neighbor dog, wander over to see what youre doing, and then flop down nearby as though supervising the family has been her full-time job for years.

Willow is the little heart-melter.
She is more cautious initially and likes a little time to ensure youre trustworthy. Once you pass inspection, however, she becomes your devoted sidekick.

She loves resting her head on her people, offering gentle nose boops and tiny kisses, and curling up as close as logistically possible.

She has also become extremely fond of soft surfaces. Pillows, blankets, laundry baskets - shes not particularly concerned about what you originally intended them for.

Both girls are crate-trained, housebroken, well-mannered, and quick learners.

They are also still learning how to be dogs out in the wider world. Before coming into rescue, they had never left their property. Harnesses, leashes, sidewalks, cars and neighborhood walks are all new to them. They need adopters who are comfortable going slowly and giving them time to become confident rather than expecting them to be ready for a neighborhood stroll on day one.

For now, they would benefit from having free access to a securely fenced yard with fencing at least 5 feet tall so they can exercise, play and enjoy the outdoors while their leash confidence catches up.

Help us get these two their version of the classic white-picket-fence dream: a safe yard, kids to grow up alongside, people to keep company while they garden, a couple of laps and shoulders to rest those hound heads on, and a permanent spot inside when everyone calls it a night. Nothing terribly glamorous - just the kind of wonderfully ordinary family life they missed out on the first time around.

Plus, they already come with a best friend!
