Sadie - Labrador Retriever and Coonhound Dog for Adoption in Olympia, Washington

Sadie is a 2-year-old Lab/Hound mix and one half of a deeply bonded pair with her littermate, Willow. These girls have spent their entire lives together and are looking for a forever home where they can remain side by side.

She and her littermate, Willow, spent their entire lives together as outdoor property dogs. When they came to us, they were frightened, emaciated, and unfamiliar with life beyond the only place they had ever known. Now that Sadie is safe, gaining weight, and receiving the care she deserves, her personality has come out beautifully.

Sadie is the more outgoing of the two sisters and is usually the first to approach someone new. She may be timid at first, but she warms up quickly and becomes affectionate, easygoing, playful, and lovingly devoted to her people. She is calm, cuddly, well-mannered, crate-trained, and quick to pick up on training.

She also enjoys a good game of fetch - provided your definition of fetch is that she chases the ball and you retrieve it.

Sadie gets along well with other dogs and has lived around farm animals. She may occasionally give a duck or cat a playful chase, but she has shown no concerning prey drive. With her gentle, loving temperament, she could be a wonderful addition to a family with respectful children and other pets.

Because Sadie had never left her original property before coming into rescue, leashes, harnesses, sidewalks, passing cars, and neighborhood walks are all completely new to her. She will need a patient family willing to introduce these things slowly and help her build confidence at her own pace. She should not be expected to head straight into busy neighborhood walks, but with gentle practice and reassurance, we believe she will continue to blossom.

Her ideal home will offer indoor living, cozy nighttime slumber, free access to a secure yard, and a fence at least 5 feet tall.
