Pippy is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.

Meet Pippy, a big heart in a 48-pound package!

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily be by your side, meet Pippy!

Pippy is a beautiful 48-pound Black Lab/Shepherd/Husky mix with a sweet heart, a playful spirit, and a personality that is as sweet as can be. She is an incredibly friendly girl who loves her people and is happiest when she can simply sit close to you and be part of whatever you're doing. She doesn't always need to be the center of attention, just being with her people is enough. Pippy is 4 years old and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find her forever home.

Pippy is a food-motivated, smart girl who really wants to listen and learn when she has your attention. She has that classic Lab brain combined with Shepherd drive, giving her plenty of enthusiasm and eagerness to work with you. And then there's her Husky side... because Pippy definitely has an opinion about things and isn't afraid to share it!

When it comes to playtime, Pippy loves fetch, but only when she finds a toy she really loves.

Pippy does need some patience when it comes to meeting other dogs. She has low impulse control and can get very excited, which means she may pounce on another dog during an initial introduction. For that reason, she needs slow, controlled introductions and time to get comfortable rather than being thrown into a new situation. An adopter who understands that first impressions aren't everything and is willing to give Pippy the time she needs will be rewarded with a wonderful companion. She would also be fantastic as a solo dog. She currently lives with another big dog and with a slow, controlled introduction, they live peacefully together. We do not think that Pippy would be suitable for a home with cats.

Pippy is kid friendly and currently lives with a teenager in her foster home. We think she would do well with older kids due to her size and general playfulness.

And when its time to settle down? Pippy is fantastic in her kennel! She knows how to relax and enjoy her own space, which makes her a great candidate for someone looking for a dog who can have both an active, playful side and a calm, quiet side. Pippy is also fully potty trained.

Pippy's ideal home would be someone who will see the amazing dog underneath the excitement, give her guidance when she needs it, and love her for the goofy, affectionate, opinionated girl that she is. She would make for a great adventure buddy! She's incredibly people friendly.

Give Pippy a little patience, a little structure, some treats, and a toy she loves, and you'll have a devoted companion who just wants to be right there beside you.
